Grays Harbor Paper is leading the revolution in manufacturing environmentally-friendly paper. Harbor 100, a top-quality printing and writing paper, uses 100 percent post-consumer recycled materials and is certified by the Forest Stewardship Council. This makes it unlike any other recycled paper product because of its carbon-neutral manufacturing process and superior performance.
The carbon-neutral process uses a combination of traditional and nontraditional biomass fuels, including wood wastes that would otherwise be deposited into landfills or burned. In February 2005, Grays Harbor Paper was certified by Green-e for manufacturing with renewable energy after adding a second electrical generator powered by renewable fuels. In the production of Harbor 100, no trees are cut down and no fossil fuels are burned. Grays Harbor Paper has been commended by the Washington State Department of Ecology and the Olympic Region Clean Air Authority for their environmentally-friendly practices.
Papers manufactured at Grays Harbor Paper are produced with either virgin, 40 percent or 100 percent post-consumer materials, but all use the same green manufacturing process to keep the impact on forests and local communities low and to meet the needs of the bioregion.
